It’s the last issue listed on the ballot in Seattle, but it could have the most direct impact on your taxes. Proposition 1 aims to rebuild a portion of the downtown seawall at a cost of $290 million. The bond measure would cost the average homeowner about $60 a year for the next 30 years. Supporters say repairing the crumbling seawall is crucial for the safety and economic future of our region. But critics contend the benefits don’t match the cost. We hear from Seattle Aquarium CEO Bob Davidson, Seattle Department of Transportation Project Manager Jennifer Wieland and retired UW professor Earl Bell. In our studio, former Seattle mayor and Central Waterfront Committee Co-chair Charley Royer and Prop. 1 opponent Christopher Brown debate the seawall replacement levy.
